NC-UV0609MAX-II Origin sensor replacement

Proper NC-UV0609MAX-II Origin sensor replacement restores reliable carriage homing on this 600×900 mm industrial UV printer. The NC-UV0609MAX-II prints 0–180 mm height, uses Epson 13200-U1 white, 13200-U1HD color and 11600-U1 varnish, runs CMYK+LC+LM+LK+LIK+W+V at 720×600/900/1200 dpi, FlexiPRINT MiniServer 22, 470W, AC 220/110V, negative-pressure eco UV ink, 25–28°C / 35–65% RH. The origin sensor detects the carriage reference at startup; offset, damage or signal loss causes error 107 zero-point faults, failed homing, crashes near the ink station, or wrong start margins. Fitting a genuine Nocai sensor returns stable registration.

Preparation

Power off, unplug and verify grounding. Press emergency stop if fitted, wear antistatic gloves, and prepare a Phillips driver, tweezers, lint-free wipes, ≥99% isopropyl alcohol, a multimeter and the NC-UV0609MAX-II manual. Move the carriage away from the home side through the panel or by hand after power isolation. Photograph the sensor bracket, cable route, connector and flag position before removal.

Fault confirmation

Run homing and check symptoms: no home position, X-axis value not updating, repeated origin errors, or carriage crashing after moving left/right. The MAX-II manual lists origin-sensor offset, origin-sensor replacement, origin-sensor cable replacement and cart-board replacement for such faults; error 107 indicates abnormal origin cart-sensor signal, while 108 points to encoder issues rather than the origin switch. Clean the sensor window first—ink dust can mimic failure.

Remove the old sensor

Disconnect the origin-sensor cable from the mainboard or intermediate connector and label it. Unscrew the sensor from its bracket, note the detection direction, and lift the old unit out. Inspect the lens, cable, bracket and carriage flag for ink mist, looseness or physical damage. Do not bend the cable or touch nearby encoder strip during removal.

Install the new sensor

Fit the OEM Nocai origin sensor in the original orientation. Align its slot or sensing face with the carriage flag/reflective target, keep the recommended gap per manual, and tighten screws lightly to avoid tilt. Reroute the cable away from the X-axis belt, carriage path and UV lamp area, then lock the connector. Confirm the sensor does not contact the moving flag.

Homing and alignment test

Release emergency stop, power on, and run the homing sequence; the carriage should move to the origin and stop precisely without overshoot. Move left/right to confirm X-axis values update smoothly. In FlexiPRINT, print nozzle, step and alignment patterns; if the start margin drifts, adjust origin offset in the service menu. When homing is stable and registration is correct, the NC-UV0609MAX-II Origin sensor replacement is complete.

Post-replacement care

Wipe the sensor window weekly with alcohol, keep the flag free of ink dust, and check cable ties and bracket torque monthly. Service rails, encoder strip, belt and ink station per manual, use only Nocai original sensors and eco UV ink, and maintain 25–28°C / 35–65% RH.
