Proper NC-UV0609MAX-II X-axis motor replacement restores carriage drive on the 600×900 mm beam. The printer uses BOM-specific Epson heads, CMYK+LC+LM+LK+LIK+W+V, 720×600/900/1200 dpi, FlexiPRINT 22, 470W, AC 220/110V, negative-pressure eco UV ink, 25–28°C/35–65%RH. The beam integrates the motor, driven/driving wheels, encoder strip, origin sheet-metal and limit gel . A faulty motor causes banding, lost steps and homing errors; an OEM motor returns smooth positioning.
Preparation
Power off, unplug, ground, and wear antistatic gloves. Move the carriage to beam center. Photograph the motor, pulleys, cable connectors and tensioner. Prepare an OEM Nocai X-axis motor, hex keys, Phillips driver, torque wrench, labels and the manual. Do not touch the encoder strip, origin sensor or printheads during setup .
Remove old motor
Disconnect the motor control and power cables from the mainboard. Release the tensioner, slip the timing belt off the motor pulley, then unbolt the motor bracket and lift the old unit. Note orientation and shims. If reusing the pulley, loosen set screws with a puller—never hammer. Inspect pulleys, bearings and cables for ink, heat or wear .
Install new motor
Mount the OEM motor in the original orientation with shims in place. Tighten bracket bolts to the NC-UV0609MAX-II manual torque—Nocai same-series guidance often uses 1.5–2.0 N·m, but confirm for this model . Refit or transfer the pulley, align it with the driven wheel, and route cables away from the drag chain, carriage path and UV lamps.
Tension, home and calibrate
Refit the belt and adjust the tensioner so it deflects slightly under finger pressure—Nocai procedures commonly specify about 5–10 mm, while some models use 5–8 mm; follow the MAX-II specification . Power on, run homing, and jog the carriage across the full width; the encoder readout should increase smoothly. In FlexiPRINT, run nozzle, step, vertical and bidirectional calibration , then print an alignment pattern. Stable, band-free output completes the NC-UV0609MAX-II X-axis motor replacement.
Post-replacement care
Monitor carriage motion for the first hour and recheck belt tension after 8 operating hours. Inspect drag-chain cables, rails and the encoder strip regularly, keep 25–28°C/35–65%RH, and use only Nocai original motor, belt and eco UV ink .
