Preparation

Removing the Old Sensor

Open the front cover and manually slide the carriage to a position away from the home side. Locate the origin sensor – typically mounted on the left end of the chassis near the carriage parking area. Disconnect the sensor cable from the mainboard or intermediate connector. Remove the mounting screws and gently extract the old sensor. Note its orientation for later installation.

Cleaning the Mounting Area

Clean the mounting bracket and surrounding area with a lint-free wipe moistened with isopropyl alcohol. Remove any ink residue or debris that could interfere with the new sensor’s detection. Allow to dry completely.

Installing the New Sensor

Place the new origin sensor in the same orientation as the old one. Align the sensor’s detection slot with the carriage flag or reflective target. Secure with the mounting screws and tighten gently. Reconnect the cable, ensuring the connector locks firmly. Route the cable away from moving parts.

Testing and Calibration

Reconnect power and turn on the printer. Observe the homing sequence – the carriage should move to the home side and stop precisely at the origin. If it overshoots or fails, check sensor alignment and cable connection. Run a test print to confirm that the print starts at the correct margin. If needed, adjust the origin offset in the service menu. Once homing is reliable and print registration is accurate, the NC-UV0609PEIII-II​ is ready for production.

Post-Replacement Checks

Monitor homing behavior for the first few power cycles. If intermittent failures occur, recheck the sensor gap (typically 2–3 mm from the flag) and cleanliness. Schedule periodic inspection of the origin sensor flag for wear or contamination.
